iPads Are MESSED UP

Apple Park drawn with Apple Pencil from Apple in Let Loose Event

On May 7th, Apple hosted a “Let Loose” event hinting everyone about the newest release of iPad. Of course, with an Apple Pencil and Apple logo, it should be an event regarding the iPads. The event started off with Apple Park drawn with Apple Pencil, and Tim Cook welcomed us with a one-of-one Nike Air Max designed with an iPad.

Tim talked about how Apple Vision Pro revolutionized professional fields like Porsche and the medical field. And then it moved onto John Ternus, introducing the “all new” iPad Air, no changes in design, but Apple did introduce the 13-inch version following the release of 15-inch MacBook Air. I have been waiting to use a larger version of the iPad, but couldn’t afford the iPad Pro starting at a $1000 price tag. Definitely, it is an affordable 13-inch iPad for students like me, but this is confusing the iPad line-up.

Apple is known for its infamous ladder system, whenever I try to upgrade the storage, the price tag becomes identical with the Pro lineups. After Isee the price, I just contemplate if I should buy this or that. With the release of the 13-inch iPad Air, this ladder system got much more confusing. I always want to get a storage of 256GB for the iPad, but when I pick up an iPad Air 13-inch with 256 GB, the price becomes identical with the iPad Pro. I end up just being ambivalent whether I should get a large-screen iPad or better display, performance, and camera iPad Pro.

For more information, iPad Pro adapted with a brand new M4 chip, it is now a tablet that can handle stuff from a Mac. Also, this new Pro consists of Apple newest display technology, Tandem OLED — two OLED screens stacked up. Unlike iPad Air, it includes ProMotion — dynamic 120 hz — that is immaculate on my iPhone 14 Pro, and my M1 Pro MacBook Pro. There are a lot of new features that iPad Pro would support with iPadOS 18 with upcoming WWDC.

iPad Pro with new Apple Pencil Pro and redesigned Magic Keyboard

Getting an iPad Pro sounds very optimistic for future iPadOS updates, but the screen size will be static with 11-inch. In addition, I need to pick up a new Apple Pencil Pro, since the newest line-up won’t support the 2nd generation. It also won’t support expensive Keyboard Folio. I wonder if this is the way of sales for a company that promotes carbon neutral — more waste with Apple Pencils.

Thus, new iPad line-ups still confuse me, which one I should pick up. It has been unpleasant before, but now the newest size for more sales is offering customers an irksome experience.
